What's the difference between a fully custom commission and a minor modification?
A fully custom commission is an entirely new design—something we create from scratch just for you. A minor modification is a small tweak to an existing Modern Mangal piece, like adding an inscription or adjusting the length. We'll let you know which category your request falls into after reviewing your inquiry.
Why is the retainer non-refundable?
The moment we receive your retainer, our team begins dedicating time, creativity, and resources to your piece—from consultations to designing resources to sourcing materials. The retainer ensures we can commit fully to your vision.
How is the retainer amount determined?
Your retainer is based on the scope and complexity of your custom piece. More intricate designs—such as South Indian styles or pieces with significant detail—require a higher retainer to reflect the additional artistry and time involved. We'll communicate your retainer amount before you commit.
How long does the entire process take?
From initial inquiry to delivery, expect approximately 6-10 weeks for fully custom commissions. Minor modifications to existing designs typically have a shorter turnaround since we skip the design development phase.
Can I make changes after production starts?
Once production begins, your piece is being crafted to your exact specifications and cannot be modified. That's why we build in revision phases beforehand—so you're completely confident before we begin crafting.
What if I'm not satisfied with the final piece?
We encourage you to use the design and revision phases to ensure every detail is perfect. Because each piece is made exclusively for you, all sales are final—but we're with you every step of the way to make sure you love what we create together.
What if material prices change?
Gold and gemstone prices fluctuate. If there's a significant shift during your timeline, we'll provide an updated quote and give you the option to proceed or cancel (with forfeiture of payments made).
Can I request specific stones or materials?
Absolutely. We work with 18K solid gold, lab-grown diamonds, natural diamonds, and precious gemstones. If you have specific preferences—such as a particular diamond grade, certification, or gemstone—let us know in your inquiry.
Can I modify an existing Modern Mangal design?
Yes! If you love one of our existing pieces but want small adjustments, this falls under our minor modifications process. Full payment is collected upfront and we move directly to production.
Do you ship custom pieces internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees. Please note that all custom and international orders are final sale.
