Our jewelry blends South Asian heritage with modern elegance. Each piece is crafted in 18K solid gold with lab-grown or natural diamonds, and can be customized to you. Every piece also comes with its Piece Passport: a permanent record of the piece, its materials, and its story that travels with it for life.

What is the Piece Passport?

Every Modern Mangal piece comes with a Piece Passport: a permanent record of that exact piece. It holds the piece's specifications, its diamond certification, and its provenance, and you can add your own photos and memories.

The Piece Passport travels with the piece. If it is ever gifted or passed down, its full story goes with it.

What is your return policy for U.S. and international customers?

We offer a 14-day return window for signature collection pieces purchased within the United States. If your piece isn't quite right, you may return it within 14 days of delivery, provided it remains unworn with original tags intact and is presented in its original packaging with all documentation included.

Please note that international orders are considered final sale and are not eligible for returns or exchanges due to the complexities of customs, duties, and international shipping regulations. However, our Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty does apply to international orders — international customers are responsible for shipping the piece to our US facility and covering all duties and taxes in both directions. We encourage our international clients to reach out with any questions prior to purchase.

What does your warranty cover?

Our warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for all jewelry purchased from Modern Mangal. Standard items are protected by a Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty, while custom orders come with a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase. Both warranties are exclusive to the original purchaser and do not cover general wear and tear, loss, or damage from improper handling.

Can you craft pieces in gold higher than 18K?

We do not offer jewelry crafted in gold higher than 18K. Gold of higher karat, such as 20K or 22K, is softer and less durable, making it unsuitable for daintier pieces. This is why most everyday jewelry is crafted from 14K or 18K gold, which offers better strength and longevity.

Moreover, the color profiles of these higher karat golds do not align with our east-meets-west brand ethos, which prioritizes durability, elegance, and versatility.

How do I track my order?

What are the requirements for shipping addresses?

Shipments must be sent to a physical address; we do not support deliveries to P.O. Box addresses. If an urgent change is needed, please contact us here.

How do I place an international order?

What are the standard and expedited shipping options for domestic US orders and international options?

Ready to Ship. Ready to Ship pieces are crafted, finished, and packaged within 2 business days, then shipped via complimentary USPS Priority 2-day mail with required signature delivery. Most domestic orders arrive within a week of purchase.

Made to Order. Made to Order pieces are hand-crafted by our master artisans and ship in approximately 3 weeks via complimentary USPS Priority 2-day mail with required signature delivery. Each piece is made to order, never mass-produced — your jewelry is uniquely yours.

Expedited Production. Expedited Production is available at $250 all-inclusive — your piece is hand-crafted in 10 business days. Best for time-sensitive gifts and special occasions.

A note on timing: the dates on our site mark when your piece is complete and ships from our New York studio. US shipping adds 2–4 business days with Standard, or overnight in 1 business day with Express. Every order ships fully tracked, so you can follow it the whole way home.

A note for international orders: the dates on our site are production times — when your piece is finished and ships, not when it arrives. From there, your order travels by the fastest shipping option available, but customs clearance and carrier delays are outside our control, so an exact arrival date can't be guaranteed. International Orders: International shipping is available for $200 USD via insured FedEx International Priority with required signature delivery. Due to customs processing, we cannot guarantee expedited delivery dates for international orders. Duties and taxes are collected at checkout — there are no surprise fees on delivery.

What happens if the shipper is unable to deliver my package?

Domestic Orders: USPS will attempt delivery 2 times, then hold your package at the local post office for pickup. If not picked up, the package will be returned to us and you'll be responsible for any reshipping costs.

Expedited/International Orders: If FedEx fails to deliver after 3 attempts, the package will be returned to Modern Mangal. We'll contact you to arrange an alternative delivery plan, and you'll be responsible for any reshipping costs.

Who is responsible for the risk of loss during shipping?

The risk of loss passes to the purchaser once the shipment is handed over to the carrier. The carrier is responsible for any damages during shipping.

Can I request a custom piece of jewelry?

How does the custom design process work?

To get started, fill out our custom order form on our Custom Order page, and we'll schedule a consultation to discuss your vision, preferences, and budget.

Once we confirm we can bring your design to life, a $500 design deposit is required to begin the creative process. This deposit is applied toward your final purchase and allows our team to dedicate focused time to developing your bespoke design.

We'll create detailed sketches and a comprehensive proposal including materials, pricing, and timeline over approximately 2-4 weeks for design development and finalization.

What is the design deposit and how does it work?

Your $500 design deposit initiates the creative process and secures dedicated consultation time, CAD renderings, design development, and comprehensive project management. This deposit is applied toward your final purchase price.

How long does a custom piece take?

Custom timelines depend on the complexity of the piece and the design process. Simple modifications to existing designs are typically faster, while fully bespoke commissions involve more back-and-forth during the design phase. Once the final design is approved and full payment is received, production begins — the minimum timeline is approximately 4 weeks, though more complex pieces may take longer. Our team will provide a specific timeline estimate once we understand your vision.

What should I know about payment and production for custom pieces?

Returns & Warranty

Are there any items that are not eligible for return?

Yes, the following items are not eligible for return:

  • Bespoke commissions
  • Personalized or engraved pieces
  • Items showing any signs of wear
  • Pieces altered by external jewelers
  • Final sale items (as noted at time of purchase)
  • International orders

Please note: We will verify the weight and authenticity of all returned jewelry, including diamonds or gemstones, against certification documentation. If any discrepancies indicate the piece has been altered or modified, we will be unable to issue a refund.

How much does return shipping cost?

Our return investment includes a $50 restocking fee and $35 return shipping fee, totaling $85. These fees will be deducted from your refund amount.

What are the conditions for a successful return?

To ensure a seamless return, your piece must be in pristine, unworn condition with all original packaging, documentation, and diamond certificates included. You must also follow the return shipping instructions we provide to maintain insurance coverage on your package.

Missing packaging or documentation will result in an additional $100 fee. We will verify the weight and authenticity of the item, including diamonds or gemstones, against its certificate. If any discrepancies suggest the piece has been altered, a refund will not be issued.

Do you offer exchanges?

Yes! We're pleased to offer complimentary exchanges on your first exchange—we cover all shipping both ways, whether you're seeking a different size, style, or piece entirely. Subsequent exchanges are $40.

To initiate an exchange, contact us within 14 days of delivery with your preferred alternative. We'll confirm availability, provide a return label, and dispatch your new piece once we've received the original. All exchanges are subject to availability and must meet the same pristine condition requirements as returns.

Exchange Pricing:

  • If your new selection is priced higher, you'll cover the difference
  • If your new selection is priced lower, we'll refund the difference accordingly
  • Current promotional offers may be honored if they align with your original purchase terms

How long does it take to process my refund?

Upon receiving your return, we will inspect and verify the item within 5-7 business days. Approved refunds are processed to your original payment method, minus the $85 return fee ($50 restocking + $35 return shipping).

How is my warranty voided?

Your warranty is voided for following reasons: it does not cover general wear and tear, scratches, loss of stones, theft, discoloration from exposure to harsh chemicals, or damage from repairs made by unauthorized third parties.

How do I claim warranty service for a manufacturing defect?

If you suspect a manufacturing defect, please contact us. For warranty-covered issues, you will need to cover the shipping cost to send the item to us. We will handle repairs or replacements at no additional charge and cover the return shipping. If the issue is not covered by the warranty, we will provide a quote for the and shipping costs both ways.

Is the warranty valid for international orders?

Yes, our warranty applies to all purchases regardless of location. International customers are covered under the same warranty terms as domestic orders. Do you offer engraving on your jewelry?

We can engrave most pieces, with engravings limited to dates and/or initials. You can add the engraving details when selecting your specifications on the product page. The available options will be provided during the customization process.

How should I care for my jewelry?

To maintain the brilliance and longevity of your jewelry, we recommend regular cleaning with a soft cloth and storing your pieces in a jewelry box when not in use. Although our jewelry is crafted from high-quality gold, many pieces are dainty and can be delicate. To prevent damage, we advise against wearing them during strenuous activities or when exposed to harsh conditions.

Yes. Your Piece Passport can hold personalized content you choose to add, such as photos or messages. It makes your jewelry both a physical piece and a lasting digital keepsake tied to that specific piece.

After your purchase, we will guide you through adding your personal photos or memories to your Piece Passport. They are then stored securely as part of the permanent record for your specific piece.

What information in my Piece Passport is public, and is my personal data safe?

Only piece-level details are public: the jewelry specifications, the diamond certification, and any photo or story you choose to add. Your personal details, including your name and contact information, are kept private and are never shared.

Adding a photo and story is completely optional and entirely at your discretion. Your privacy is our priority.
