Price and deposit
How is a custom piece priced?
Every piece is priced on its own, by the gold weight, the stones and the detail in the design. When you personalize one of our pieces, your price comes with the mockup. When we design something new, your itemized quote follows the design, and the $500 deposit comes off that total.
Do I need to choose a path?
No. Changes to one of our pieces, like a bead pattern, gold color, length or engraving, are usually a personalization. A new design begins with the design deposit. We’ll recommend the path that fits after reading your request.
What does the $500 design deposit cover?
Our design team’s time and work on your piece. That means your design call, the drawing of your piece and two rounds of changes. It comes off the price of your piece when you go ahead.
What if plans change, or the design isn’t right for me?
The deposit isn’t refundable, because the design work has already been done. It is never lost, though. It becomes store credit toward any Modern Mangal piece, whenever you’re ready.
Design and timing
When do I speak with a designer?
Once your deposit is in, you book a design call with our team. Before that, our concierge is happy to answer questions by phone, text, email or WhatsApp.
How long will it take?
Usually about 3 weeks to personalize one of our pieces and 6 to 10 weeks for a new design, depending mostly on how quickly the design comes together. If you have a wedding or another date in mind, add it to the form and we’ll tell you in our first reply if it works.
What if I don’t love the first design?
That is what the two rounds of changes are for, and you can ask for more at $75 a round. Nothing is made until you approve the design. If it still isn’t right, your deposit becomes store credit.
Can I make changes once my piece is being made?
The drawing is the last chance to change anything. Once you approve it, our artisans begin and the design is set.
Can you make a full wedding thaali and a mini version?
Yes, and we design them as a pair. The full thaali is made for the ceremony and the mini carries the same pendant and coins for every day. We also make mini versions of family thaalis from a photo of the original.
Which gold and stones can I choose?
Most custom pieces are 18K gold in yellow, white or rose, and other solid gold purities are possible on request. We set natural or lab-grown diamonds and precious gemstones, and we work only in solid gold.

Is a custom piece covered by the warranty?
Yes, for life. Every Modern Mangal piece, custom included, is covered against defects in materials and craftsmanship. See our Warranty Policy.
Can I return a custom piece?
Custom pieces are made only for you, so they are final sale. Our Custom Order Policy has the full details.
Do you ship custom pieces internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. In most countries, duties and taxes are shown and paid at checkout, so there’s nothing more to pay on delivery.
